"A small group of thoughtful people could change the world.  Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has ."  Margaret Mead

Kentucky Watch was established in 2002 as a small group of individuals joined together to educate the public about issues that affected their everyday lives.  As a nonpartisan, nonprofit consumer advocacy organization, Kentucky Watch promotes the education of citizens on the legislative process and regulatory decision-making.  We work to assure a stronger voice and greater influence on issues that affect Kentuckians’ daily.

Our Mission is to increase the awareness of the citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky through research, education, and mobilization activities.   We strive to make state and local governments more aware of, and responsive to, the concerns of all citizens, not just the powerful.

Our Vision is for consumer driven systems that openly disclose  healthcare outcomes, insurance costs/rates, and the establishment of standards

Kentucky Watch works towards these goals by focusing greater citizen, government and media attention on the health care and insurance industries, pushing for stronger regulation, greater accountability, and more open access to information about how these industries discipline wrongdoers, set rates, and establish standards. These efforts include sponsorships of these projects:

  • The Insurance Company Accountability Network
  • Patient Safety Advocates of Kentucky
  • Civil Justice Program
  • Department of Insurance Monitor
  • Board of Medical Licensure Monitor
